Trompe l’oeil at the Vatican Museum. Ai Marmi served the most deliciously thin pizza while Est Est Est served Neopolitan style thick-pan pizza. The Pantheon was stunning with it’s open-domed roof and the Colisseum was mesmerizing. Deep fried artichoke is a speciality at old Roman establishment Gigetto.

We finally made it to Rome - we’ve been wanting to go for ages!

We decided to try out Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant at T5 as it not only has a prime location overlooking the airport but also because it looked spacious and comfortable. We were asked to wait about 15 minutes to be seated which was fine. We were put in a lovely table right by the window, but were also suddenly aware of lots of commotion at which point we noticed Gordon himself at the entrance, followed closely by a large press entourage. Slowly parts of our breakfast arrived as the paparazzi ensued right next to us. As ‘first customers’ we were asked if it was okay for Gordon to come and sit with us for a few minutes so we all got to meet him! He was really charming and chatty, looks great in person, and you can really sense the high-energy vibe that sparks from him! Good luck with the new venture Gordon and thanks for breakfast!

When we booked our holiday to Rome we were completely unaware that we had booked it for the opening day of Terminal 5. But on seeing T5 printed on our booking we decided to allow extra time incase of any complications, aswell as having time for a leisurely breakfast. The new terminal is huge, airy and cool looking. But what would have really helped orientation would have been a simple map laying everything out as the scale is quite overwhelming. We did end up having a 2-3 hour delay which was annoying, especially as no one could really explain why, but at least our luggage arrived in Rome, as later in the day things really started to get messy!

The arrival of Spring (one day earlier this year due to the leap year) is upon us, and after two days of snow and freezing weather over Easter, seeing a field of daffodils is a lovely sight - such cheery flowers!

We’ve reached the end of our first year of trading! With the ups and downs, challenges, feedback, amazing customer comments, etc. it has been a really fun year. And the good thing is that there is lots more to come as we only just start to make our mark! Thanks to all who have been so supportive.

I am trying to introduce SWD to some of my favourite English landmarks; some of which are places that I haven’t visited for years. We visited Hampton Court over the weekend and it has all the charm I remember and makes for a great place to just wander and admire, and there’s plenty of history to absorb too.

I’m finding it hard to believe it’s already March, but relieved to say my Spring catalogue is just about ready to mail now that winter is almost to an end. There will be a few new products for Spring, and here’s a sneak peak of some of the new washbags we will be offering in our popular Blossom pattern.

Sweet’s products will also be making a couple of UK tv appearances this spring - on ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover and Living TV’s Britain’s Next Top Model 4. I will be sending out more details in the March newsletter of exactly when these shows will be aired.
And finally, we will be exhibiting at the Country Living Spring Fair in Islington from March 12th-16th, so please come along if you want to see the collection live.

I was introduced to Amy’s work a couple of years ago and really love it because it’s eclectic, quirky and original. One of my favourite pairs of earrings is by Amy as they are timeless and intriguing. Her work is very narrative and each season has a theme, this spring her collection is ‘murder in an english garden’ (remember it’s humerous). She uses words and sayings along with ornate icons and embellishments - it’s really inquisitive stuff. Her shop is off Brick Lane at 22 Cheshire Street, London E2.

Some of my Blossom products are in this months Livingetc thanks to Melanie Molesworth who used them in styling the article Dream Spaces. Also interesting to note that Dan Duchars did the photography!

These are some of my favourite pieces of china from Caroline Zoob’s range. She pays a lot of attention to detail and knows that a teacup just shouldn’t be too small.
